Ranchi Woman Alleges Assault by Seven; Police Investigating

Ranchi, Oct 8 (PTI) An 18-year-old woman has reportedly become a victim of sexual assault by seven individuals in Ranchi district, police revealed on Wednesday. The victim reported the incident to the Tamar police station on Tuesday, where she alleged a betrayal by her cousin, who intentionally deceived her, leading to the tragic event.

According to Praveen Kumar Modi, the Officer-in-charge of Tamar police station, the incident is said to have taken place on September 30. The victim claims she was invited by her cousin to attend the Dussehra fair at Mardhan More, where two individuals arrived, and one of them assaulted her. Subsequently, she was transported to Sona Tungri Rugdi, where two additional individuals allegedly assaulted her. Following this, she was taken to Bundu, where three others allegedly perpetrated the crime. From Bundu, she was moved to Ranchi, where another person reportedly assaulted her before abandoning her at Mardhan More in the Tamar area.

An FIR has been registered at the Tamar police station against seven individuals. Four of the accused have been identified, while three remain unidentified. Police are conducting raids at various locations to apprehend the culprits. The medical examination of the victim is scheduled for Wednesday.
