Heavy Rains Cause Disruptions in Rajasthan's Rail and Road Traffic

Jaipur, Sep 3 (PTI) Heavy rains have caused significant disruptions in Rajasthan, affecting rail and road traffic and resulting in waterlogged areas in Jaipur and Kota districts. A spokesperson for the Kota railway division reported that landslides occurred near Dara railway station along the Kota-Mumbai route, leading to the suspension of nine trains. Additionally, the waterlogging at Dara nullah has led to the suspension of traffic on National Highway-52, which connects Kota and Jhalawar. In Dausa, a police van collided with a truck on the Jaipur-Agra highway amidst the heavy rainfall, injuring two policemen, according to the police. Morning rains also disrupted normal life in Jaipur, Dausa, and Sikar. Jaipur Meteorological Centre Director Radheshyam Sharma mentioned that the monsoon trough currently extends from Bikaner, Jaipur, Datia, Sidhi, and Puri to the Bay of Bengal, and another trough is passing through Punjab, Haryana, and northeast Rajasthan. A low-pressure system has been persisting over the Bay of Bengal since Tuesday, which is likely to keep the rains active in the state until September 7. The weather office has issued an orange alert for very heavy rainfall in Banswara and Pratapgarh districts on Wednesday, while a yellow alert is in place for heavy rain in Alwar, Baran, Bundi, Bharatpur, and several other districts. Between September 3 and 5, heavy to very heavy rains are anticipated in parts of Kota, Udaipur, Ajmer, and Bharatpur divisions. Rain activity is also expected to increase in the Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions from September 5 to 7.
