Rahul Gandhi Meets Haryana Congress Leaders for Party Revamp

Chandigarh, Jun 4 (PTI) — Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is set to meet senior party leaders from Haryana and All India Congress Committee (AICC)-appointed observers on Wednesday as a key part of the party's organization rejuvenation campaign. Gandhi, who arrived today, plans to sit down with 17 senior leaders, including former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, former Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) chiefs, General Secretary Kumari Selja, seasoned leaders Randeep Singh Surjewala, and MP Deepender Singh Hooda. The meeting aims to gather feedback on restructuring the party's unit in Haryana. The Congress has been without a district-level organization in the state for 11 years, and Gandhi's visit is intended to kickstart the restructuring process. The party has been out of power in Haryana for over a decade. To address this, the Congress has named observers tasked with appointing District Congress Committee presidents in Haryana. Senior Congress leader B K Hariprasad, who oversees the party's affairs in Haryana, confirmed this on Monday, stating that the completion of appointments is expected within a month. In addition to the feedback session, Gandhi, who serves as the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, will hold a separate meeting with the AICC-appointed observers. Only a day earlier, on Tuesday, Gandhi had been in Bhopal for the 'Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan' or organization rejuvenation campaign.
