Rahul Gandhi to Join Bihar Protest Against Labour Code, Electoral Revisions

Patna, Jul 7 (PTI): Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to visit Patna on Wednesday to participate in a "chakka jam" protest against the new labour code and the special intensive revision of electoral rolls in Bihar, according to leaders from the INDIA bloc.

The announcement was made on Monday during a press conference attended by Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar assembly, state Congress president Rajesh Kumar, All India Congress Committee in charge for Bihar Krishna Allavaru, and leaders of Left parties.

Kumar mentioned that Gandhi, who is the opposition leader in the Lok Sabha, will join the protestors in Patna, where a march to the office of the Election Commission is planned.

Yadav stated, "We will stand with Gandhi in Patna, yet this agitation will take place throughout Bihar. We back the chakka jam against the labour code, viewing it as an assault on democracy, akin to the controversy surrounding the revision of electoral rolls."

He further alleged that the special intensive revision, set to conclude in less than a month, has been fraught with "confusion" and accused the Election Commission of aiding the ruling BJP-led NDA through this exercise.
