PVN Madhav Elected as Andhra Pradesh BJP President

PVN Madhav has been elected as the BJP President for Andhra Pradesh. His leadership aims to enhance BJP's political ground under the NDA alliance, succeeding D Purandeswari and focusing on future electoral gains.

PVN Madhav Elected as Andhra Pradesh BJP President

Amaravati, July 1 (PTI) — Senior BJP leader PVN Madhav officially assumed the role of Andhra Pradesh unit president, succeeding D Purandeswari. The election, overseen by BJP leader and Bengaluru MP PC Mohan, resulted in Madhav being elected unanimously. Madhav received a certificate of election as president, marking the conclusion of D Purandeswari's two-year tenure as party president in the state. His presidency was anticipated, as he was the lone nominee.

Madhav commenced his political journey in 2003, joining the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the BJP's youth wing. As state vice president of BJYM from 2003 to 2007, he spearheaded various initiatives to bolster the youth wing. From 2007 to 2010, he served as state general secretary of BJYM, eventually advancing to national secretary from 2010 to 2013. Though he was unsuccessful in the 2009 Visakhapatnam North MLA elections, he subsequently became an MLC. He was elected as Andhra Pradesh graduates constituency MLC from Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, and Srikakulam between 2017 and 2023.

Madhav expressed a deep familial connection to the BJP, emphasizing his father's commitment to the party. "I was born during the Emergency. Now, 50 years later, I'm elected BJP President for Andhra Pradesh. Under Purandeswari's leadership, BJP secured eight MLAs and three MPs in the 2024 elections—I aim to double that in the next polls," stated Madhav in his address. He highlighted his pride in assuming leadership during the RSS centenary and vowed to fortify BJP's presence in the state.

He thanked leaders such as Purandeswari and Somu Veerraju and promised to propagate Prime Minister Modi's development agenda across the state. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu extended his congratulations to Madhav, underscoring the significance of the NDA alliance for Andhra Pradesh's collective growth. Naidu, via a post on X, encouraged collaboration among the three alliance parties (TDP-JSP-BJP) for the state's development. Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan also congratulated Madhav, noting his longstanding nationalist stance and effective advocacy in the legislative council. "As BJP President, I hope he continues to embody the NDA alliance's spirit," stated Kalyan in a press release.
