Amaravati, July 1 (PTI) - On Tuesday, senior BJP leader PVN Madhav officially assumed the role of president of the party's Andhra Pradesh unit, succeeding D Purandeswari. The announcement was made by BJP leader and Bengaluru MP PC Mohan, who oversaw the election process, stating that Madhav was elected unanimously.

"The certificate of election as president has been presented to Madhav," expressed the party in a release.

This transition signifies the conclusion of the approximately two-year tenure of Rajahmundry MP D Purandeswari as the state party president, the statement added.

The election of Madhav as president was anticipated, as he was the only candidate to file a nomination on Monday.
