PVN Madhav Takes Charge as BJP Andhra Pradesh President

Amaravati, July 1 (PTI) Senior BJP leader PVN Madhav has officially taken charge as the president of the Bharatiya Janata Party's Andhra Pradesh unit, succeeding D Purandeswari.

BJP leader and Bengaluru MP PC Mohan, who oversaw the election process, declared that Madhav was elected unanimously.

“The certificate of election as president has been presented to Madhav,” noted a statement from the party.

This change signals the end of Rajahmundry MP D Purandeswari's approximately two-year term as the state party president.

Madhav's election to the position was anticipated, as he was the only candidate who filed a nomination on Monday.

Born on August 10, 1973, Madhav embarked on his political journey in 2003 by joining the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the youth wing of the BJP.

During his tenure as the state vice president of the BJYM from 2003 to 2007, he organized various events aimed at strengthening the BJP's youth segment.

He served as the state general secretary of BJYM from 2007 to 2010 and subsequently as the national secretary from 2010 to 2013.

In the 2009 general elections, he unsuccessfully contested the Visakhapatnam North MLA seat but later became an MLC.

Between 2017 and 2023, he served as the Andhra Pradesh graduates constituency MLC, representing the districts of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, and Srikakulam.
