The Punjab Government, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has distributed ₹3,368.89 crore in pensions to 22.68 lakh elderly beneficiaries.

Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has distributed a total of ₹3,368.89 crore as pensions to 22.68 lakh elderly beneficiaries, as of December 2024.

Social Security, Women, and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur shared that the state government is deeply committed to the welfare of all societal groups.

She further explained that the state has 34 lakh beneficiaries, including the elderly, disabled individuals, widows, destitute women, and dependent children.

According to Dr. Kaur, a significant portion of the pension allocation has already been distributed to the 22.68 lakh elderly beneficiaries, ensuring they receive ₹3,368.89 crore in total by December 2024.

She also highlighted that the state government has allocated a total of ₹5,924.50 crore for various pension schemes, with ₹4,000 crore specifically earmarked for old age pensions in the current financial year.

Dr. Kaur elaborated that individuals aged 65 years and above, along with women aged 58 years and above, who have an annual income not exceeding ₹60,000, are eligible for this pension scheme. She mentioned that the pension amounts are directly transferred to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts.

Emphasizing the government's commitment to the elderly, Dr. Kaur shared that health surveys for senior citizens are actively being conducted across Punjab to better address their needs and welfare.
