'Blast-like' sound heard near closed police post in Amritsar, police say no grenade blast

A mysterious blast-like sound was heard on Monday evening near the abandoned Police Post on Fatehgarh Churrian Road in Amritsar, prompting an immediate visit from Commissioner of Police (CP) Amritsar Gurpreet Singh Bhullar to assess the situation.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the noise might not have been caused by a grenade blast, although the police are not completely ruling out this possibility. "The impact is negligible, and first impressions don't indicate a blast," CP Bhullar commented. "However, we are investigating the matter from all angles to determine the cause of the noise."

CP Bhullar stated that a police checkpoint (Naka) was set up on Fatehgarh Churrian Road near the main Amritsar bypass. Police officers on duty heard the sound and responded quickly. They found a small impact or impression on the road about 20-30 feet away from the intersection.

Upon further inspection, Bhullar noted that even the nearby wall showed no signs of being affected by the incident. He also clarified that the police post in question has been closed for months, so there was no active post at the scene.

The CP urged the public not to panic and warned against the spreading of rumors or creating unnecessary fear.
