Punjab Police Thwarts Terror Threat with Arrests and Grenade Seizure

Chandigarh, Aug 19 (PTI) - Punjab police successfully intercepted a significant threat as they recovered a hand grenade after arresting operatives linked to the banned terrorist organization, Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).

Following pivotal arrests, Counter Intelligence Jalandhar uncovered an 86P hand grenade. Their operation led to the apprehension of two BKI individuals, Ritik Naroliya and a juvenile, in Rajasthan several days ago. Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, shared this update on X.

The detained suspects provided critical insights, resulting in the capture of their accomplices. Vishavjit was detained in Kolkata while attempting to flee to Malaysia, while Jackson was arrested in Nakodar, both leading to the hand grenade's discovery.

Yadav emphasized that all the arrested were acting under directions from BKI masterminds based in Canada, Zeeshan Akhtar and Ajay Gill.

In July, Vishavjit and Jackson reportedly obtained two grenades from Beas through associates. One of these grenades was detonated at a liquor shop in SBS Nagar ten days ago by other module members.

An FIR has been lodged at the State Special Operation Cell, Amritsar. The DGP reiterated Punjab police's unwavering dedication to dismantling terror networks, combating organized crime, and safeguarding the peace and safety of the public in Punjab.
