'Punished for being a Muslim': Mufti reacts after U'Khand rescue hero's house demolished 

Jammu and Kashmir's former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti claimed that Wakeel Hassan's house was demolished in Delhi because he was a Muslim. Hassan is one of the rat miners who saved 41 workers from Uttarakashi's collapsed tunnel.

Taking to social media X, Mufti claimed that Hassan's house was singled out and demolished by the Delhi Development Authority.

"So much love for the Pasmanda Muslims that Vakil Hassan commended by the PM (Modi) for his heroic act in saving the lives of 41 workers trapped in Silkiyara tunnel— his humble abode was singled out & demolished by DDA. Instead of rewarding him for his bravery, he is punished only for being a Muslim. Is this how BJP intends to uplift the so-called Pasmanda marginalised Muslims?" she said on X.

According to the DDA, the demolition drive was carried out on land that was “part of planned development land". Police said several structures built illegally were demolished during the drive.

"On February 28, a demolition drive was conducted by the DDA to remove encroachment from its acquired land in village Khajoori Khas. The land was part of planned development land," the DDA said in a statement, in response to a query by PTI news agency.
