Pune boy survives trekking mishap due to Apple Watch. Here's what Tim Cook said

A Pune boy has written to Apple CEO Tim Cook narrating how an Apple Watch saved his life.

Sharing the story of his accident via email, 17-year-old Smit Mehta told Cook about how he fell into a 150-feet deep valley in Lonavala during a trek with his friends in July this year.

Smit had no access to his phone when he fell, and he managed to escape only by using his apple watch, according to a report by The Times of India.

He used the watch to connect with his family and friends, who later pulled him to safety, the report added.

The teen sustained injuries including broken ankle after he slipped into the valley.

Speaking to India Today, Smit said he was alive because of his cellular Apple Watch which helped him connect with his people at the right time.

Apple CEO Cook responded to Smit's email and thanked him for sharing his story, saying that he was glad to see him on the road to recovery.
