PM Modi, Chief Justice Ramana attend first joint conference of CMs and chief justices in 6 years

The joint conference of chief ministers and chief justices is being held after a gap of six years in the presence of Chief Justice of India N V Ramana. The inaugural session of the joint conference was addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
CJI Ramana and Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju also addressed event.
The joint conference is an occasion for the Executive and the Judiciary to come together to create frameworks for simple and convenient delivery of justice and to discuss steps required to overcome the challenges facing the justice system, the Prime Minister's Office said in a statement on Friday.
CJI Ramana said deliberate inaction by governments despite judicial pronouncements is not good for the health of democracy.
Voicing concern over misuse of PILs, the CJI said it has now turned into "Personal Interest Litigation" and is used to settle personal scores.
The last such conference was held on April 24, 2016.
