Prophet remark row: curfew imposed, mobile internet shut in J&K's Bhadherwah

A curfew has been imposed and mobile internet has been shut to foil communal attempts to create communal clashes in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bhaderwah district.

The development comes amid a controversy over the comment made on Prophet Muhammad by the now-suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma.

Reports said there was an alleged hate speech made by a local cleric and an objectionable post about the Prophet on social media that led to the development.

FIRs have been registered in both the cases. The police have warned that anyone found violating law and order will not be spared.

According to the police, the curfew has been clamped as a precautionary measure with the situation currently normal and under control.
