Former J&K chief minister Farooq Abdullah spoke about Kashmir history, the abrogation of Article 370 and effect of terrorism on the former state as he addressed the Lok Sabha during the debate on no-confidence motion.

"Maharaja Kashmir (Hari Singh) wanted to remain independent. He wanted to be between these two nations. But Pakistanis did not want that. Pakistanis invaded and he had to come to India for help," he added.

The no-confidence motion debate against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government is under way in the Lok Sabha. In the backdrop of the crucial parliamentary deliberation is the ethnic violence in Manipur.

The motion was introduced by the Congress to elicit a response from Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Parliment on the situation in Lok Sabha.

The Modi government is now in its second term, with opposition parties forming the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) to prevent the ruling BJP-led NDA from coming to power for a third term under him.
