"A few people sitting in UK, USA, and Canada are spreading false news on social media that Amritpal is being tortured, it is our appeal that people must not believe the fake information about his arrest. The leaders and workers of the party and its youth and student wings, after marching to the BSNL office had sat down on the road in front of it, which led to the blocking of traffic movement, according to visuals aired on TV channels.
Some YC workers were also seen climbing over police barricades into the BSNL office compound.

The former Congress chief was flanked at the press meet by Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, his Chhattisgarh counterpart Bhupesh Baghel and party general secretaries Jairam Ramesh and KC Venugopal.
Gandhi said the moot question remains that who invested Rs 20,000 crore in Adani shell firms and he will keep asking that question.

Gandhi was disqualified from the Lok Sabha on Friday, nearly 24 hours after a court in Gujarat's Surat convicted him in a 2019 defamation case, an action the Congress slammed as the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) "vindictive politics" and vowed to fight against it legally and politically.
The BJP dismissed the charge and termed Gandhi's disqualification "lawful".
The disqualification from the Lok Sabha will bar Gandhi (52), a four-time MP, from contesting polls for eight years unless a higher court stays his conviction.

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav was questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation in Delhi on Saturday in connection with the alleged land-for-jobs scam, after skipping three previous dates, officials said.

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav was questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation in Delhi on Saturday in connection with the alleged land-for-jobs scam, after skipping three previous dates, officials said.
The CBI had given an assurance to the Delhi High Court last week that it would not arrest Yadav this month. According to the RJD leader's counsel, Maninder Singh, Yadav had conveyed to the federal agency that he would require some time to appear before its sleuths as the ongoing Bihar Assembly session is scheduled to conclude on April 5.

The officials also said the fresh round of questioning of the accused is taking place as part of the "further investigation" based on fresh inputs gathered during the agency's ongoing probe.
The CBI has alleged that during Lalu Prasad's tenure as the railway minister in the UPA government from 2004 to 2009, favourite candidates were appointed in the railways in violation of norms and procedures, without any advertisement or public notice. The agency has claimed that substitutes from Patna were appointed in various zonal railways located in Mumbai, Jabalpur, Kolkata, Jaipur and Hazipur.
As a quid pro quo, the candidates, either directly or through their immediate family members, allegedly sold land to Prasad's family members at highly-discounted rates.

Speaking at a public event in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj on Saturday, Rijiju said "The Indian Constitution is our guide. No one can give a warning to anyone". He added, "Public is the Maalik of this country and we are the servants. We all are here for service.

Amid rising cases of COVID-19 and seasonal influenza, the government is planning a nationwide mock drill on April 10 and 11 to take stock of hospital preparedness.

The Health Ministry has directed all states to maintain an optimum level of testing for Covid-19 amid a spike in coronavirus cases in the country since mid-February.
In a fresh set of guidelines released on Saturday, the government has advised states to keep a close watch on the evolving causes of seasonal influenza cases as both the flu and Covid-19 have similar symptoms.
The government also flagged insufficient Covid-19 testing in some states.

State chief minister Basavaraj Bommai, B S Yediyurappa were also present in the rally.

Addressing a mega public meeting here, he asked, "When no one gets full majority, will Karnataka be in bad shape or not? Do you want a strong and stable government or not? Do you want a government with full majority or not? "The first job should be to bring Karnataka out of the politics of manipulation and take it forward at a fast pace," he said.

The Delhi Police has registered a case against unidentified people for recording and circulating an audio message containing the threat to remove the Indian flag from Pragati Maidan, the venue for high profile G-20 meet in September.
The case was registered at the complaint of a man who received the pre-recorded message on his phone when he arrived at the Delhi airport.

A case under sections 153 (provocation with intent to cause riot), 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion etc) and 505 (statements conducing to public mischief) of the Indian Penal Code was registered at IGI Airport Police Station, they said.
The case has been transferred to the Special Cell unit of the Delhi Police, they added.
Singh, the radical preacher, is on the run after the Punjab Police arrested several of his supporters in a major crackdown that began weeks after the group stormed the Ajnala Police Station near Amritsar to secure the release of an arrested associate.
The episode had raised fears over the possibility of the return of Khalistani militancy to the state that borders Pakistan.
Police said efforts are on to trace Amritpal Singh. A lookout circular and a non-bailable warrant has been issued against the Khalistan sympathiser.
