Uttar Pradesh: Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi take part in Congress' 'Dhanyawad Yatra'

Congress leaders Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi will join the party's 'Dhanyawad Yatra' in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. The 5-day tour of Uttar Pradesh will reportedly cover all 80 Lok Sabha constituencies. In a closely fought election, the INDIA bloc was able to wrest 43 seats. Congress got a hold of the crucial Amethi and Raebareli constituencies after intense campaigning.

According to Congress leaders, the 'Dhanyawad Yatra' is being organised so the grand old party can express its gratitude to the voters in Uttar Pradesh.

AICC General Secretary Avinash Pande revealed the event's details on social media. "Jananayak Rahul Gandhi ji and Congress General Secretary Smt Priyanka Gandhi ji will express gratitude to the Babbar Sher workers of Rae Bareli and Amethi on 11th June 2024 at 3:30 pm in Rae Bareli," he wrote.

Samajwadi Party, a member of the INDIA bloc, dominated the Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh. The Akhilesh Yadav-led party won 37 seats while the BJP secured 33.

All eyes were on Amethi and Raebareli, two UP constituencies that promised a hard fought battle between the BJP and Congress. Then-Union Minister Smriti Irani lost Amethi to Congress loyalist Kishori Lal, who won with a margin of 1,67,196 votes.

Rahul Gandhi comfortably took away Raebarerli after defeating BJP's Dinesh Pratap Singh with a margin of 3,90,030 votes.
