Opposition parties extend support to BSP's Danish Ali, abused by BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri

BJP parliamentarian Ramesh Bidhuri's shocking communal comments inside Lok Sabha against Danish Ali, another parliamentarian representing Mayawati's BSP has triggered a massive furore in political circles with Ali demanding Bidhuri's suspension, and Opposition parties rallying behind him.

Amid calls by several opposition parties for Bidhuri's suspension from Lok Sabha, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi met the BSP MP at his residence on Friday evening.

Speaker Om Birla took "serious note" of Bidhuri's comments and warned him of "strict action" if such behaviour is repeated in the future.

BSP supremo Mayawati said it was "unfortunate" that the BJP has not yet taken "appropriate" action against Bidhuri.

Meanwhile, the CPI(M) demanded the arrest of Bidhuri.

Other parties including the Nationalist Congress Party demanded that Birla take action against Bidhuri.

RJD president Lalu Prasad hit out at PM Modi and accused him of giving rise to a "depraved social and political culture" which was manifest in the behaviour of BJP parliamentarians.
