MCD polls: Delhi BJP gears up; asks office bearers to get ready for December

The much delayed-Delhi MCD polls may happen by the end of this year, the Indian Express reported quoting BJP sources. According to its report, the BJP Delhi has asked its councillors and district and mandal units to be prepared for the civic polls expected in December.

The affirmation has come after the Centre earlier this month fixed the total number of seats in MCD at 250 from the existing 272 wards as part of the delimitation exercise, whose first draft has been readied.

Several leaders of the saffron party confirmed that preparations are on for the polls expected in the second week of December outlining that they have already begun with the outreach programmes.

Meanwhile, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party has also launched a garbage rally to 'expose' BJP's mismangament in MCD.

The BJP ruled the corporation polls in the past three terms and it hopes to make the same mark, said Delhi BJP chief Adesh Gupta. He added that party president JP Nadda would be addressing over 70,000 people in mid-October including officer bearers at different levels.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi, which were originally scheduled for April this year were called off hours before announcement of election schedule. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had accused the State Election Commission of working under Centre's pressure.
