'LG not my headmaster': Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal slams VK Saxena in Assembly speech

Amid an intensifying face-off between the Delhi government and the Lieutenant Governor, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal used the Assembly podium to target the Central government's appointee.

Mocking LG VK Saxena, Kejriwal said that when he was a child, his teachers did not check his homework in the manner that the LG checks his files. Kejriwal added that the LG is not his "headmaster", and it is the people who elected him CM.

Amid accusations that the LG blocked a Delhi teachers' training trip to Finland, the Aam Aadmi Party chief accused VK Saxena of not wanting poor children to get a good education.

He said the LG does not have the power to make decisions on his own. "The Supreme Court has clearly said that he cannot take a call on issues barring the police, land and public order." Kejriwal added.

The chief minister also showed a list of "children of BJP MPs, MLAs and ministers who have studied abroad", and said everyone should have access to the best education.

"Who is LG, where has he come from? He is sitting on our heads. Will he decide where we should send our children to study? Our country is lagging because of such people with a feudal mindset," he claimed.
