'Get beaten up with shoes if...': TMC MP Saugata Roy's warning to BJP, Left over Partha, Anubrata arrests

In a fresh political war of words in West Bengal, a leader of the ruling Trinamool Congress reportedly warned Opposition parties of getting beaten up with shoes.

On 28 August 2022, TMC Parliamentarian Saugata Roy reportedly said, "If there is any BJP or CPI(M) activist here, listen carefully. If any of you cross the limits of decency by branding every one of the TMC as thieves while attacking the party, don't blame us if our party men beat you up with shoes. Don't complain if you are driven out of your locality by our members."

Roy was referring to political attacks on TMC by BJP over the arrests of Partha Chatterjee and Anubrata Mondal. The MP later said that the "shoe" comment was rhetoric.
