G20 presidency to West's agenda: Here's what foreign minister Jaishankar said at UNGA

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday addressed the UNGA gathering in New York.

The minister started off the speech with a 'Namaste Bharat', and extended India's support to UNGA's theme of rebuilding trust and reigniting global solidarity.

The minister then invoked India's G20 presidency and hailed its success, adding the country's lunar mission Chandrayaan 3 success.

During his speech, the minister referred to the West and said there few nations who are setting the agenda, However, the days of falling in line are now over.

Citing the example of India’s initiative at the recently concluded G20 Summit to admit the African Union as a permanent member, the foreign minister on Tuesday exhorted the United Nations to get inspired “to also make the Security Council contemporary.”
