First BJP leader visits Lakhimpur, leaves without meeting farmers' families

Ten days after the Lakhimpur violence in which eight, including four farmers, were killed, UP law minister Brijesh Pathak became the first senior BJP leader to visit the area.

But the minister only met the families of a BJP worker and a driver who were killed in the violence and left without meeting the families of the farmers who were allegedly mowed down by the car belonging to Union Minister Ajay Mishra.

In his interaction with the two families, the UP Law Minister promised to fulfil their demands, including the issuance of “arms licence, the status of BJP martyr and a fair investigation in their killings”.

Pathak told The Indian Express that he would hold talks with the families of the farmers who were killed “once the situation normalises”.
