Double-A variant, Shahenshah, two Indias: Rahul Gandhi attacks Modi govt

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the Narendra Modi administration during a discussion in Parliament on February 2.

Gandhi accused the government of creating two Indias - one for the rich, and the other for the poor - during a discussion on the Motion of Thanks to the President's Address. He said that while the government speaks about 'Make In India', they have ruined all chances of making India a manufacturing powerhouse by attacking MSMEs (micro, small, and medium enterprises) with demonetisation, "incorrect" GST, and then lack of help during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Congress leader also alleged that the Modi administration was trying to rule India with a 'stick', without having any regard for the variety of cultures spread across the land. He said that the idea of a 'shahenshah' (ruler), which had been "smashed" in 1947, is now being revived.

Gandhi also said that a "double-A variant" is spreading through the economy. He said that Adani and Ambani are monopolising the formal sector.
