Adani row: laughter before loud shouting in Rajya Sabha as chairman rejects Opposition notices again

As Opposition members objected to the rejection, Dhankar appealed "in the name of democracy and Constitution" to let the House run.

Wry laughter gave way to loud shouting in the Rajya Sabha as Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar once again rejected adjournment notices submitted by Opposition MPs to discuss the Adani controversy on 6 February 2023.

As Opposition members objected to the rejection, Dhankar appealed "in the name of democracy and Constitution" to let the House run. The chairman added that the Rajya Sabha is the House of Elders, and is being looked at by the entire nation.

When the Opposition continued to press for its demand for a debate on the Adani issue, the House was adjourned for 3 hours.
