11 suspended MPs to be reinstated in the Budget Session of Parliament

Suspension of 11 Rajya Sabha MPs will be revoked ahead of the Budget Session of Parliament tomorrow. They were among the 146 opposition members of Parliament suspended during the Winter Session for disrupting the house.

“All (suspensions) will be revoked. I have spoken with the (Lok Sabha) Speaker and (Rajya Sabha) Chairman, I have also requested them on behalf of the government. This is their jurisdiction ,” Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi told ANI.

“We have requested the Speaker and the Chairman to speak with the concerned privileged committees, revoke the suspensions and give them the opportunity to come to the House. Both of them agreed,” Joshi said after an all-party meet.

Asked if the suspended MPs will be present in the House from tomorrow, Joshi said "yes".

In a unprecedented move, a total of 146 opposition MPs were suspended from the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha during the course of the previous Parliament Session. Action was taken after a showdown between the Treasury and Opposition benches over the security breach at the Parliament complex on December 13.

Of the 146 MPs, a majority were suspended only for the duration of Winter Session. The privileges committtee of Lok Sabha revoked the suspension of 3 MPs earlier this month. The government, today, sought to reinstate the remaining 11 members to the Rajya Sabha.
