PM stuck on Bathinda flyover, Home Ministry blames Punjab govt for 'security lapse'

Home Ministry has blamed Punjab govt for what it called a lapse in Prime Minister Modi's security arrangements after his car was stuck on a flyover in Bathinda for around 15-20 minutes.

The Home Ministry said that the Prime Minister was supposed to reach the National Martyrs Memorial at Hussainiwala by helicopter but chose to go by road instead due to bad weather.

The Prime Minister proceeded to travel by road after necessary confirmation of necessary security arrangements by the DGP of Punjab Police, the ministry said in a statement.

It further added that the Prime Minister's car was stuck on the flyover as it was blocked by the protesters and that amounted to a major lapse in his security.
