PM Modi Celebrates RSS Centenary as a Glorious Milestone

New Delhi, August 15 (PTI) - Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday hailed the centenary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as a "proud and glorious" milestone for the "world's largest NGO." He expressed gratitude to the volunteers for their unwavering dedication to national service.

During his address to the nation from the Red Fort on the occasion of the 79th Independence Day, Modi emphasized that nation-building is not solely the responsibility of the government or those in power.

He acknowledged the contributions of countless individuals, including saints, scientists, teachers, farmers, soldiers, and organizations that collectively form the backbone of the nation.

"It is with immense pride that I mention today that 100 years ago, an organization called the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh was born. Its journey over the past century in national service has been truly remarkable," stated Modi, who himself has roots as an RSS pracharak.

He noted that for the past hundred years, RSS volunteers have been committing themselves to 'vyakti nirman' (character development) and 'rashtra nirman' (nation-building) for the welfare of the motherland.

"From the Red Fort today, I pay my respects to all the swayamsevaks who have been part of this century of national service," he said.

The prime minister went on to highlight that the core values of service, dedication, organization, and discipline define the RSS, which he recognized as the world's largest non-governmental organization.

He further lauded the nation’s pride in the RSS's "dedicated and glorious" 100-year journey and expressed confidence that it will continue to inspire generations.
