PM at UN: vaccine, Afghanistan and Tagore feature in PM Modi's speech

Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing the 76th United Nations General Assembly on Saturday praised India's progress in developing vaccines for Covid-19 despite having limited means. He also praised India's advancement in technology and said that CoWin app is helping vaccinate lakhs of people everyday.

He went to say that science-based, rational and progressive thinking are the need of hour as threat of regressive thinking and extremism is rising.

Speaking specifically about Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, the Prime Minister said that it needs to be ensure that the country is not used to spread terrorism.

The Prime Minister also touched upon the issue of climate change and said that we should use our resources but not abuse them.

He also reiterated his stand that the United Nations needs to introduce reform itself to remain relevant.

The Prime Minister ended his speech with a poem by Rabindranath Tagore talking about walking ahead fearlessly while working for good.
