Trailblazing Women's Expedition Embarks in Arunachal Pradesh

Itanagar, Nov 12 (PTI): An extraordinary all-women high-altitude trekking expedition has set forth from Tawang district in Arunachal Pradesh, featuring participants from the Indian Army, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF), and the local Monpa community, according to a defence release.

Lt Gen Gambhir Singh, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Gajraj Corps, launched the expedition from Zemithang on Tuesday, the release reported.

Defence PRO, Lt Col Mahendra Rawat, highlighted that this initiative aims to promote women's empowerment and adventure sports.

Surrounded by the stunning landscape of Zemithang, this expedition brings together trailblazing women from all over India, encompassing the Indian Army, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF), and members of the local Monpa community.

The venture underscores the government's vision for vibrant villages and contributes significantly to community engagement and adventure tourism in Arunachal Pradesh's border regions.

After a week-long acclimatization period in higher elevations, the women are engaging in a 96-hour expedition, navigating new trails in this pristine, remote region of the Eastern Himalayas.

The participants, with vigor and determination, are embarking on a challenging journey above 13,000 feet, testing their endurance, courage, and self-confidence.

This pioneering trek signifies not only the adventurous spirit and resilience of these women but also aims to inspire future enthusiasts.
