Dramatic Escape Attempt Foiled by Police in Patna: Accused Shot in Leg

Patna, August 6 (PTI) — In a dramatic incident on Wednesday morning in the Phulwari Sharif area of Patna, a man accused in over 18 criminal cases across Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal was shot in the leg while attempting to escape from a police van.

Raushan Sharma, the suspect, was in police custody and was being transported to help locate his associates when he attempted a daring escape.

According to Patna SSP Kartikeya K Sharma, Sharma tried to flee by seizing a firearm from a policeman. However, the police responded with retaliatory firing, which resulted in Sharma being shot in the leg. He was subsequently admitted to a government hospital for treatment.
