Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan wants to debate Prime Minister Narendra Modi on live TV.

Khan on Tuesday told Russia Today TV that he would like to have a televised debate with Prime Minister Modi, to resolve differences between the two nations, news agency Reuters has reported.

"I would love to debate with Narendra Modi on TV," Imran Khan said, adding that it would be beneficial for the billion-plus people in the Indian subcontinent if differences could be resolved through debate.

India and Pakistan relations have been in a state of freeze for years. India has maintained that talks and terror cannot go hand in hand and has refused to engage with Pakistan till it dismantles terror infrastructure on its soil.

India has told Pakistan repeatedly that dialogue can only happen in a "terror-free atmosphere". New Delhi has asked Islamabad to show evidence of its crackdown on terror before talks can be held.

Imran Khan's interview came on the eve of a visit to Moscow, where he will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin - the first visit by a Pakistani leader to Russia in two decades.
