A heartwrenching incident has come to light as a man from Maharashtra's Thane district allegedly killed his 55-year-old mother after a fight with her over not serving him tasty food, police said on Tuesday.
The incident took place on Sunday, November 26 evening at Velu village in Murbad taluka, an official from Thane rural police control room said.
The woman and her son used to have frequent quarrels over domestic issues.
On Sunday, the man again had a quarrel with his mother and complained that she did not cook and serve him tasty food, the police said quoting the FIR.
The man, in a fit of anger, allegedly attacked his mother with a sickle on her neck following which she collapsed and died, the official said.
Some persons from the neighbourhood alerted police, who rushed to the spot and sent the body to a government hospital for post-mortem.
After the incident, the accused allegedly had an overdose of sleeping pills. He was hospitalised by relatives and has not yet been arrested, the official said.
A case was registered on Monday against the accused under Indian Penal Code section 302.

A video has gone viral on the internet in which four bike-borne men were seen opening fire on a person who was standing outside his house in the Bhiwani district of Haryana. However, what left internet users amazed was that a woman chased away the shooters with a broomstick.&nbsp;
The video was shared by Journalist Nikhil Choudhary on X and it has garnered a number of views. Currently, it is not clear when this incident took place and editorji does not vouch for the veracity of this viral video.&nbsp;
As social media users came across this video, they reacted by saying that Haryanvi women are the strongest. Others reacted to the video by saying that the woman was quite brave and she chased the shooters with just a broomstick.&nbsp;

A video has circulated on the internet in which a 3-year-old girl can be seen swinging around a glass door of a garment showroom. However, this turned into a tragic accident as the glass door fell on her and she died. This incident took place in Ludhiana.&nbsp;
As per reports, the girl was from Flower Enclave in Basant Avenue. She went to the garment showroom with her parents on Friday, November 24 and at that time, she was playing around the door when it suddenly fell on her.&nbsp;
Police on Sunday reported that as this incident took place, the girl was immediately rushed to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where the doctors declared her dead.&nbsp;
Police said that they will take action after recording the statement of the parents of the girl. As people came across this video, they reacted by saying that it was a bad day. Others reacted to this by saying that this is truly painful.&nbsp;

A 20-year-old woman undergoing Agniveer training in the Indian Navy allegedly died by suicide by hanging herself in her hostel room at INS Hamla in Mumbai, police said on Tuesday.
The woman, hailing from Kerala, was undergoing training at the INS Hamla in the Malwani area in the western suburb of Malad, an official said.
She allegedly hung herself in her hostel room on Monday morning, he said.
While no suicide note was recovered from the spot, it appears the woman took the extreme step due to personal reasons, the official said.
The woman had been training at the facility for the last 15 days after completing her basic training, he said.
The police have registered an accidental death report (ADR) and further investigation is underway, the official added.
Agniveers are soldiers recruited by the armed forces under the Agnipath scheme, which was introduced in 2022.

The Uttarkashi rescue operation is in its last stage and the workers are expected to come out soon.

t seems the long wait will be over today, said Chaudhry, hoping that rescuers drilling through the rubble at the partially collapsed Silkyara tunnel here will within a few hours reach his son and the other 40 workers trapped inside it for over two weeks.
Raising hopes was the news that rescuers were drilling close to the breakthrough point of 57 metres, behind which are the workers.
The horizontal drilling through the rubble has progressed to 55.3 metres, officials said.
Earlier in the day, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had said pipes have been inserted up to 52 metres through the rubble at the tunnel.
Through these pipes, each 800 mm wide, the trapped workers will crawl out. Waiting at the tunnel site to see his 22-year-old son Manjit, Chaudhry, a resident of Lakhimpur Khiri in Uttar Pradesh, said, &ldquo;Officials have told us evacuation of workers is likely. We have been asked to keep our clothes and belongings ready." On whether he will be taken along with his son after rescue to the hospital, Chaudhry said doctors will go in the ambulances. "But we have been told arrangements will be made for us wherever they are taken after evacuation,&rdquo; he said Unlike earlier, on Tuesday, Chaudhry had a smile on his face while speaking to reporters.
The information being given raises hopes of an early evacuation, he said on the 17th day of the rescue operations. Chaudhry had lost his elder son a few years back.
Trapped worker Gabbar Singh's elder brother Jaimal Singh said he cannot express his feelings at the moment.
"Even, nature looks cheerful today. A cool wind has stirred up the leaves and trees. The weather is good. We are hopeful. We have been asked to keep our belongings rolled up and wait for further instructions," he said.
"We have been waiting outside for them and they (trapped workers) have been struggling. Let's hope all that ends soon," he said.&nbsp;

According to NDTV, 9 flights were impacted by the weather in Delhi. Of the 9, 6 were diverted to Jaipur, 2 to Lucknow, and 1 to Ahmedabad.&nbsp;
ANI reported that a Vistara flight from Guwahati to Delhi, UK742, was diverted to Jaipur due to bad weather at the Indira Gandhi International airport.&nbsp;

At least 33 passengers were left injured after a bus going from Madhya Pradesh's Mandsaur to Rajasthan's Pratapgarh overturned late on the night of 27th November.
According to police, the speeding bus went out of control and overturned near Hathuniya village.
They added that the primary cause of the accident appears to be a tyre burst.
There was an outcry inside the bus after the accident, following which locals rushed to the spot and rescued passengers by breaking the glass windows of the bus.
All injured were rushed to the district hospital in a truck. Three of them were said to be critical.

The police have been on alert following the incident.
Reacting on the issue, Khatoon said some elements were misleading a group of people.
&ldquo;I respect all religions. Moreover, I am a public representative. Be it a temple or a mosque, I will surely go there if I am invited,&rdquo; she was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
She added that she has used her MLA fund for the renovation of various temples.

The Election Commission has asked the Congress government in Karnataka to stop publishing advertisements in newspapers in poll-bound Telangana.

The Election Commission on Monday asked the Congress government in Karnataka to stop publishing advertisements about its work in newspapers in poll-bound Telangana and sought an explanation from it for not seeking prior approval as mandated under the poll code.
Earlier in the day, the BJP lodged a complaint with the Commission in the matter, alleging that the Congress has violated the Representation of the People Act and the Model Code of Conduct with its government in Karnataka putting out advertisements in the Telangana media with an eye on the November 30 assembly polls there. The BRS too approached the poll panel on the issue.
In a letter to the Karnataka chief secretary, the Commission said the state government did not obtain prior approval from it for publishing the advertisements, an action violative of the poll code instructions issued to central and state governments years ago.
It also said the publication of any such advertisement by the government of Karnataka in Telangana should stop with immediate effect till necessary approvals are taken by the state government from the Commission.
It has sought an explanation by 5 pm on Tuesday on the circumstances which led to the violation of the Commission's Model Code of Conduct (MCC) instructions.
In its letter, the Commission also asked why disciplinary action should not be taken against the secretary-in-charge of the Department of Information and Public Relations for violations of procedure as required under MCC instructions.
In the past, the Commission had observed that certain advertisements highlighting welfare schemes and achievements of the central and state governments were being published by some non-poll-going states in the newspapers in poll-bound states.
The Commission had considered this to be a violation of the spirit of the Model Code of Conduct.
In 2013, it had directed that, in future, all such advertisements issued by non-poll-going states during the Model Code of Conduct period would be forwarded to the Commission for clearance before they are sent for publication in newspapers having editions or circulation in the poll-bound states.
Assembly polls are due in Telangana on November 30, with the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), the Congress and the BJP locked in a keen battle.

Manual drilling over 50 metres has been done in the Uttarkashi tunnel, while five to six metres remain.

As the rescue operations in Uttarkashi's Silkyara tunnel entered the 17th day, horizontal drilling over 50 metres was completed.
Rat-hole miners have manually drilled about three metres. They were brought in after the auger machine got stuck in the debris and had to be removed.
According to micro-tunnelling expert Chris Cooper who is present at the site, only five to six metres of drilling is left to be done. Meanwhile, vertical drilling is also being carried out.
Cooper said, "It went very well last night. We have crossed 50 metres. It's now about 5-6 metres to go. We didn't have any obstacles last night. It is looking very positive."

"Mahatma Gandhi freed us from the slavery of the British with the help of truth and non-violence. PM Modi took us forward on the path of progress, which we always wanted to see. Both Mahatma Gandhi and PM Modi reflected the teachings of Shrimad Rajchandra ji," said Dhankhar on the birth anniversary celebrations of Jain mystic and philosopher, Shrimad Rajchandra.
Reacting to the Vice President's remarks, Congress MP and Lok Sabha whip Manickam Tagore took to the social media platform 'X', and said that, "he has crossed all limits of sycophancy."
"If you compare (Modi) with Mahatma, it's shameful, Sir. We all know there is a limit to sycophancy; now you have crossed that limit, and to be in your chair and position and to be a sycophant does not add value, Sir. With respect," the Congress MP wrote while tagging a clip of VP Dhankhar's speech.
