Omicron scare: 10-day night curfew in Karnataka from Tuesday

Amid fears of a rise in the number of Omicron cases, the Karnataka government has decided to impose a night curfew beginning Tuesday, December 28.

The curfew will be imposed from 10 pm to 5 am every night for a period of 10 days.

Health and Family Welfare Minister K Sudhakar said the measures have been taken after analysing the situation that is prevailing in other states and countries.

Along with the night curfew, the state government has also announced certain restrictions for New Year related parties and gatherings, amid fresh Covid-19 concerns with new clusters emerging and increasing threat of the new Omicron variant of coronavirus.

The minister also said that places like eateries, hotels, pubs and restaurants can have 50 per cent of the seating capacity of the premises.
