Aam Aadmi Party leader and Delhi minister Atishi has slammed BJP and Prime Minister Narender Modi after party's high-profile leader and MP Sanjay Singh was arrested by ED in connection with Delhi excise policy-linked money-laundering case on Wednesday.
Addressing a presser, she said, "It was a pre-planned script, that they (ED officials) would go to his residence and sit there for 8 hours and then arrest him. It shows the BJP's desperation. PM also knows that whether it is the upcoming elections of 4 states or the elections of 2024, the people have decided to overthrow the BJP government...".

The AAP has alleged the ED "targeted" Singh as he raised issues related to the Adani group in Parliament.

In a dramatic turn of events Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh was arrested by ED in connection with Delhi excise policy linked money-laundering case on Wednesday.
As soon as news of Singh's arrest surfaced, party workers who were already staging agitation outside his Delhi residence over probe agency's raids, began protesting against the AAP MP's arrest.&nbsp;
A minor scuffle between police personnel and party workers also broke out outside Sanjay Singh's residence.&nbsp;
The AAP has alleged the ED "targeted" Singh as he raised issues related to the Adani group in Parliament.
The ED had mentioned Singh's name in its charge sheet. It stated that Dinesh Arora, a middleman, had said he had met Singh during a party in his restaurant Unplugged Courtyard. &nbsp;In 2020, it said, Singh allegedly requested him to ask restaurant-owners to generate funds for the Aam Aadmi Party for the Delhi assembly elections. He said he gave a cheque of Rs 82 lakh.
According to the charge sheet, Dinesh Arora said in his statement that another accused -- Amit Arora -- wanted help in shifting his liquor shop from Okhla to Pitampura.
It was alleged that he managed to do this through Singh who told Sisodia after which the matter was resolved by the Excise Department.
Dinesh Arora also said he met Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal once at his residence with Singh while he had spoken to Sisodia five-six times, the charge sheet stated.

Earlier in the day as the agency conducted the searches, AAP spokesperson Reena Gupta said, "Sanjay Singh kept on raising questions on the issue of Adani and this is why the raids are being conducted at his residence. The Central agencies found nothing earlier and won't find anything today either. First, they conducted raids at the residence of some journalists yesterday and today, raids conducted at Sanjay Singh's residence." Singh's father Dinesh Singh said they are cooperating with the ED.&nbsp;

After the Congress strongly batted for a national caste census with the assertion that rights should be proportionate to the population, senior party leader Abhishek Singhvi on Tuesday struck a note of caution, saying it will eventually culminate into majoritarianism.
The remarks by Singhvi, a spokesperson of the party and a member of its apex decision-making body Congress Working Committee, countered the pitch for "'Jitni abaadi, utna haq' (rights proportionate to the population)" made by Rahul Gandhi and other leaders following the release of Bihar caste census on Monday.
"Equality of opportunity is never the same as equality of outcomes. People endorsing #jitniabadiutnahaq have to first completely understand the consequences of it. It will eventually culminate into majoritarianism," Singhvi said on X.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi while speaking at a poll rally in Jagdalpur said the Congress should clarify whether rights can be given in proportion to the "abaadi" (population) and asserted that poor people have the first right over the country's resources.
Modi also asked whether the grand old party wants to decrease the rights of Muslims.

Speaking at a rally, Modi said before Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) polls, Rao used to come to the airport to receive him with fanfare and show a lot of respect.

"Why so much anger suddenly? The reason for that is, after Hyderabad polls, he came to Delhi to meet me. He gave a beautiful shawl and honoured me. He showed so much love that it was not in the character of KCR," Modi said.

After reports of India asking Canada to withdraw half of its diplomats, amid the ongoing issue between both countries, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau admitted that his country was going through an "extremely challenging time" with India but asserted that Ottawa will continue to have "constructive relations" with New Delhi.&nbsp;
Speaking to reporters in Ottawa, Trudeau also said that it's important for Canada to have diplomats on the ground in India, amid a report by London-based Financial Times that New Delhi wants as many as 41 of 62 remaining Canadian diplomats out of the country, the Toronto Sun newspaper reported.
"Obviously, we're going through an extremely challenging time with India right now," Trudeau was quoted as saying by the Canadian newspaper.
He, however, did not confirm the FT report that India has asked Canada to withdraw 41 of 62 diplomats from the country.
Asked if his government would retaliate by asking India to remove diplomats based in Canada, Trudeau insisted his government would try to keep working with New Delhi.
"We're not looking to escalate, as I've said, we're going to be doing the work that matters in continuing to have constructive relations with India through this extremely difficult time," Trudeau was quoted as saying by the state-run CBC News.

AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal slammed BJP and Prime minister Narendra Modi after its second high-profile leader and parliamentarian Sanjay Singh was arrested by ED in connection with now-scapped excise policy case.
Kejriwal who arrived at Sanjay Singh's Delhi residence along with other prominent party leaders said, "ED officials searched his entire house but nothing was found and he was arrested in the evening. Elections are coming and after the formation of the INDIA alliance, PM Modi is desperate... They will arrest many people till 2024. Sanjay Singh is a lion...We file a case in court..."
Singh was taken into custody Wednesday evening by the Enforcement Directorate, the second high-profile AAP leader arrested in this case after Manish Sisodia. Early this morning, ED officials swooped on Singh's official residence in North Avenue and conducted searches. After day-long questioning, Singh was arrested under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

AAP leader Sanjay Singh, in a video message recorded before his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday, said that he would continue to raise his voice against corruption and would not bow down.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday morning raided AAP Rajya Sabha member Singh's home in connection with a money laundering case linked to the Delhi excise policy and later arrested him.
In the video message released to the media, Singh targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ruling BJP.
"I accept dying but not bowing down. I exposed Adani's scams and filed multiple complaints with ED but no action was taken against Adani. Modi ji is losing the 2024 elections badly. They cannot win by committing atrocities and putting people in jail. I had earlier also spoken against Adani's scams, I will continue to do so in future as well. We are (Arvind) Kejriwal's soldiers and will not back down in the face of atrocities." He also said the ED was forcibly arresting him without any evidence.&nbsp;

After the arrest of AAP MP Sanjay Singh by the ED in connection with a money laundering case linked to the now-scrapped new excise policy of the Delhi government, the BJP on Wednesday came out all guns blazing against the ruling party.
Claiming Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to be the "kingpin" in the liquor 'scam' case, the BJP said he was next on the ED's radar and would be "held to account" for his alleged role in the matter.
Speaking to ANI, the BJP's Delhi chief Virendraa Sachdeva said, "It is clear for all to see today that the truth cannot be hidden. After Sanjay Singh, it is now Arvind Kejriwal's turn to face the music."
Union minister Meenakshi Lekhi also hit out at AAP leaders and said, "Opposition has entered the system with the intention to rule and for the welfare of their own family. It is the Modi Government that has decided upon 'Naa khaaoonga, naa khaane doonga' and these steps are being taken towards building a corruption-free India. Probe agencies of the country have been formed in accordance with the law of the land so that corruption doesn't happen in the county. We did not tell them to do corruption. If they have indulged in corruption, investigation will be done and action will be taken..."

The AAP leader's wife said, "They questioned and searched the house, computer, and documents but did not find anything. There was pressure upon them (ED officials) to arrest him and they arrested him. They (ED) did not give us any reason. We all are with him. He has been arrested in a fake case..."
