Odisha to Host Energy Ministers' Conclave with Global Collaborations

Bhubaneswar, Jul 2 (PTI) – Later this year, Odisha will host the Energy Ministers' Conclave in collaboration with the Tony Blair Institute and IIT Kanpur, as announced by an official on Wednesday.

The conclave will see participation from energy ministers across the nation. Odisha is set to spearhead the creation of a framework and the formulation of effective policies for the energy transition. This was discussed in a preparatory meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo on Tuesday evening.

During the meeting, Singh Deo emphasized that the groundwork for ‘Viksit Bharat by 2047’ has commenced under the leadership of the Prime Minister, with the energy sector playing a pivotal role in achieving these objectives. In line with future goals, the government is crafting a climate-resilient strategy. The state is also progressing towards a net-zero carbon goal by cutting carbon emissions and embracing renewable energy.

"We are on the brink of transitioning from conventional to renewable energy sources and are advancing towards solar power, PSP, green energy, etc., in the state. The Tony Blair Institute will aid us in this endeavor," remarked the Deputy Chief Minister.

In New Delhi last June, the Odisha government signed an MoU for the conclave. This conference will highlight Odisha’s innovations in the energy sector. Numerous distinguished individuals from both India and abroad are expected to grace the conclave.
