Odisha Leaders Extend Warm Wishes for Diwali and Kali Puja

Bhubaneswar, Oct 20 (PTI) Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik extended their greetings to the people on the auspicious occasions of Diwali and Kali Puja. Kambhampati conveyed his wishes on platform X, highlighting Deepavali as a symbol of light's triumph over darkness and righteousness over evil. "Heartfelt greetings and congratulations to all on the auspicious occasion of the sacred #Deepavali," the Governor remarked. He further shared his hopes for happiness, peace, and prosperity among the citizens in his Diwali message.

In another message, Governor Kambhampati extended his best wishes for #KaliPuja, expressing his hope for Mother Kali’s grace to bless the people of Odisha with joy and well-being. The Chief Minister, Mohan Charan Majhi, through social media, offered heartfelt greetings on Diwali, wishing the light of knowledge, happiness, and prosperity to fill everyone's life.

Naveen Patnaik, Leader of Opposition and BJD president, shared video messages with greetings for the people of Odisha. He expressed his intent to visit Nuapada soon and conveyed his wishes for the festival. "I am sending my heartfelt wishes to everyone on Diwali," Patnaik stated, hoping for joy and prosperity to fill all lives.

Across Odisha, homes, shops, and streets are adorned with illuminated diyas, colorful rangolis, and lights to celebrate the festival. The state government declared holidays on October 20 and 21 in observance of Diwali.

The Odisha State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB) released guidelines permitting the bursting of firecrackers between 7 pm and 9 pm only. Firecrackers with sound levels surpassing 125 decibels are banned, according to an official.

OSPCB also prohibited crackers within parks, silence zones, and 100 meters of hospitals, educational institutions, religious places, and courts. Only certified green crackers are permitted and must be used in designated open spaces.
