Five Austria-made Glock pistols and more than 90 rounds of different calibre bullets dropped by a Pakistani drone were recovered by the Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday from along the International Border in Punjab, officials said.
The dropping of the weapons and ammunition took place in Metla area of Gurdaspur sector around 2:30 am.
The "infiltrating rogue" drone was fired upon by our troops and later during search of the area a packet was recovered from the field, a BSF spokesperson said.
Officials said the cache contained five Glock pistols, ten magazines and 91 rounds.
Security agencies suspect the consignment was meant for Khalistani separatist groups in the border state.
The Glock is a sophisticated semi-automatic pistol that is used by counter-terrorist forces like the National Security Guard (NSG) and other commando teams.
It is used for close-quarter battle scenario and VIP protection duties as it has a range of 35-50 metres. It is manufactured in Austria and the USA.

"The whole audience has seen your real face today. What we have seen in Kashmir, we saw in Washington today, and thank you for showing the world how cruel, and indecent these people are. You have seen it all,&rdquo; Junaid said as the separatist sympathisers were taken out of the room.

"They (Hurriyat leaders) are in jail because of their mistakes. They misled the people of Jammu Kashmir for their vested interests and gains. They spoiled our ecosystem of education. They were the spoilers of our economy. They were glorifying terrorism. They are in jail for their hate speech. They are in jail for their war crimes,&rdquo; Junaid said.
Referring to the disruption caused by the protestors, Raina said all these years this is what the separatists sponsored by Pakistan have been doing in Jammu and Kashmir.
"What these gentlemen did, the same thing they did in Kashmir. Whosoever was speaking, right, or for the people, was silenced by the gun,&rdquo; he said.
"I wish I get a chance to visit Pakistan. I want to meet the policymakers to stop funding terrorism,&rdquo; Raina said.&nbsp;

Navjot Sidhu, a former MLA from Amritsar, is serving a one-year jail term in Patiala central prison in a 1988 road rage death case.
On May 20 last year, Sidhu was sent to jail after he surrendered before a court in Patiala after being sentenced to one-year rigorous imprisonment by the Supreme Court in the case.

According to the police, Amritpal Singh and his associate had taken shelter in a woman's house in Haryana while fleeing from the police. The woman was arrested by the police on March 23.&nbsp;
Haryana Police said the woman nabbed from Shahabad in Kurukshetra district has been identified as Baljit Kaur.
"We have nabbed the woman, who harboured Amritpal and his associate Papalpreet Singh at her home in Shahabad on Sunday. The woman has been handed over to Punjab Police," Kurukshetra Superintendent of Police Surinder Singh Bhoria told PTI over phone.
He also said the woman knew Papalpreet Singh for over two years.
Officials have said Papalpreet Singh is considered one of Amritpal Singh's mentors and had been working closely with the radical preacher. He was seen driving the motorcycle on which Amritpal Singh rode pillion while escaping the police crackdown on his outfit on Saturday.
The two-wheeler was found abandoned near a canal in Jalandhar.

Woman suffers burns after husband throws acid on her in Tamil Nadu

A man allegedly threw acid on his wife at the district court complex suspecting her of being in an illicit relationship with another person, leaving the woman scarred.
Kavitha had reached the court premises to appear in a theft case, police said. She was arrested in August 2016 for stealing 10 sovereigns of gold chain from a bus passenger and the case was going on in the First Judicial Magistrate Court. She was out on bail.
She had allegedly developed an illicit relationship with one Prabhu and eloped with him a week ago, that left her husband and the couple's two daughters in dismay, police said.
Her husband Shivakumar, who came there anticipating her court appearance, splashed acid on her face from a water bottle he was carrying, police added.
Writhing in pain, Kavitha sustained serious burn injuries below the neck and ran for safety even as a woman lawyer standing nearby covered her upper body with a cloth. She was rushed to the government hospital where doctors stated she had already suffered 80 per cent burn injuries, police said.

LS passes demands for grants, Appropriation Bill without discussion

The Lower House of Parliament took up the Demands for Grants and Appropriation Bills after two adjournments.&nbsp;

After a Surat court on Thursday found Congress leader Rahul Gandhi guilty and convicted him to 2 years of jail in a defamation case filed against him over his alleged remark on 'Modi' surname, senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha said he will introduce the Decriminalisation of Defamation Bill, 2023, to repeal Sections 499 and 500 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The Congress and the AAP have in the past avoided taking each other's side on various issues.

Odisha's Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Kishore Das died of bullet injuries on Sunday, Apollo Hospital officials said.
Earlier in the day, Das was shot and grievously injured in Jharsuguda district when he got out of his car, allegedly by a police officer who was captured.
The minister was airlifted to Bhubaneswar in an air ambulance and admitted to Apollo Hospital, Bhubaneswar.
A team of doctors operated on him, the hospital said.
&ldquo;On operating was found that a single bullet had entered and exited the body, injuring the heart and left lung, and causing massive internal bleeding and injury.
&ldquo;The injuries were repaired, and steps were taken to improve the pumping of the heart. He was given urgent ICU care. But, despite best of efforts, he could not be revived and succumbed to his injuries,&rdquo; it said in a statement.

After a protest inside the Parliament House complex, a host of Opposition leaders from parties such as the CPI, CPI(M), Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray), JD(U) and Aam Aadmi Party, marched to Vijay Chowk, holding placards like 'We demand JPC' and 'Save LIC' and a huge banner in front of them with 'Democracy in Danger' written on it.

Alleged conman from Gujarat Kiran Patel, held in Jammu and Kashmir for posing as a top official of the Prime Minister Office (PMO), has been booked by the Ahmedabad cops on cheating and criminal conspiracy charges for trying to usurp a senior citizen's bungalow using the same tactic, an official has said.
Patel, a resident of the Ghodasar area of the city, was arrested by the Jammu and Kashmir police earlier this month from a five-star hotel in Srinagar after the authorities grew suspicious about his activities.
On Wednesday, the Ahmedabad city crime branch lodged a case of cheating (Indian Penal Code section 420), criminal breach of trust (406), criminal conspiracy (120-b) and personating a public servant (170) against the alleged conman, said Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime, Chaitanya Mandlik, on Thursday.
Patel's wife Malini Patel has been shown as a co-accused in the FIR (first information report), he said.
"As per our information, four FIRs related to cheating have been registered against Kiran Patel in different police stations of Gujarat in the past. Since he is in judicial custody, we will try to bring him here through a transfer warrant," Mandlik said.
In the latest FIR, it is alleged that Patel tried to grab a bungalow in a posh locality in Ahmedabad by winning the trust of its owner through false claims of being a "Class 1 officer in the PMO" and having close relations with politicians.
The complainant, 63-year-old Jagdish Chavda, owns a bungalow in the Shilaj area but wanted to sell it because of personal reasons. Patel approached Chavda in February 2022, claiming to be a real estate agent, and told the owner his property would fetch a good price if it was renovated.
To win Chavda's trust, Patel then identified himself as a "Class-1 officer in the PMO" as well as a partner in a cafe chain.
When Chavda agreed for the bungalow's renovation, Patel, his wife Malini and an interior designer started the work and took Rs 35 lakh in instalments from him, the FIR said.
As renovation was underway, Chavda shifted to his friend's residence in the Shela area. After some time, Chavda learnt that Patel and his wife had put their own name plate outside the bungalow and also did a house-warming ritual as if they were the owners.
When confronted, the Patel couple left the bungalow without finishing the renovation work, following which Chavda and his family moved back into the house, according to the police.
In August 2022, Chavda learnt through a court notice that Patel had filed a civil suit claiming ownership of the property, said the FIR.
In August 2019, a city-based decorator had lodged a complaint in Vadodara against Patel and two others for allegedly duping him of Rs 1 crore.
As per the FIR registered at the Raopura police station in 2019, Patel along with two event organisers - Dipesh Sheth and Dhara Sheth - had approached the complainant, Paritosh Shah, to decorate Navlakhi ground in Vadodara for a Navratri event held in October 2018.
While the trio paid nearly Rs 50 lakh to Shah in various instalments for the work done, they started giving excuses to clear the remaining bill of Rs 1 crore, as per the FIR.
At one point, Patel even threatened Shah with dire consequences claiming he was politically well-connected. When the trio refused to pay the pending money, Shah lodged a complaint with the Raopura police in August 2019.
A similar complaint of cheating and breach of trust was registered against Patel in Bayad town of Arvalli district in August 2020.
As per the FIR registered by the Bayad police, Patel along with his brother Manish Patel and the latter's wife Darshna had convinced three persons of Bayad to invest their savings in tobacco and cattle feed business for good returns.
In all, the accused took Rs 1.75 crore from one Ashish Patel and two of his friends by promising high returns on their investments, said the police document.
When cheques given by the accused got dishonoured, complainant Ashish Patel and others sought their money back, following which, the trio returned nearly Rs 50 lakh, but refused to pay the remaining sum of Rs 1.25 crore, said the FIR.

Delhi Police has registered a case in connection with the protest held outside the Indian High Commission in London on March 19, officials said on Friday.
The case was registered by the special cell under the Indian Penal Code, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act as it involves unlawful activities carried out by certain people holding Indian nationality abroad, a senior police officer said.
It was done after the Ministry of Home Affairs directed the Delhi Police to take appropriate legal action on the receipt of a report from the Ministry of External Affairs over the incident at the Indian High Commission March 19.
Last Sunday, the tricolour flying atop the Indian High Commission in London was grabbed at by a group of protesters waving separatist Khalistani flags and chanting pro-Khalistani slogans, leading to an arrest related to the violent disorder.
Officials from the mission said the "attempted but failed" attack had been foiled and that the tricolour was now flying "grander". The Metropolitan Police said two members of security staff sustained minor injuries which did not require hospital treatment. An investigation has been launched.

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh had on Thursday asserted that it is not just a legal issue but also a serious political matter linked with the future of democracy in the country, he said. &nbsp; "This is another major example of the Modi government's politics of vendetta, threat and intimidation. We will fight it legally as well as politically. We will not bow down or be intimidated by such politics and will turn this into a major political issue," he had said.&nbsp;
