Odisha BJP Promises Refunds to 5 Lakh Chit Fund Scam Survivors

Bhubaneswar, July 4 (PTI) Five lakh individuals defrauded by various chit fund companies are set to recover their money within the next four months, as stated by Odisha BJP President Manmohan Samal on Friday.

Speaking at a press conference, Samal highlighted that over 1.26 lakh people have already received their refunds.

"The BJP government is committed to returning the funds lost, irrespective of the amount, whether it's Rs 10,000 or Rs 10 lakh, to those cheated by chit fund enterprises. Returning the money lost in the chit fund scam was a key promise made by the party leading up to last year's assembly elections.

Samal criticized the previous BJD government for its role in the chit fund scam, which resulted in the loss of savings for countless individuals.

"The procedure to reimburse the investors of chit funds is currently in progress. In the past year, the BJP government has already refunded money to 1,26,137 people. An additional 5 lakh investors will receive full reimbursement within four months from today, he declared.

He further alleged that the previous BJD government failed to support the investors and instead endorsed the Ponzi schemes.

According to Samal, investors will be able to reclaim their funds with minimal proof of their deposits.
