'No two-finger test done': IAF chief on Coimbatore rape accusation

Newly appointed Indian Air Force chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari on Wednesday clarified that no two-finger test was conducted on the 28-year-old woman who had accused a fellow IAF officer of rape at the Air Force Administrative College (AFAC) in Coimbatore.

A woman officer of the Indian Air Force claimed that she was subjected to the banned “two-finger test” by medical officers at the academy. The two-finger test is a preliminary, unscientific examination of rape victims to ascertain sexual abuse. She further alleged that some of the officers intimidated her and forced her to withdraw the complaint.

When asked about the allegations by the female officer in her FIR, the Air Chief Marshal stated that the ‘IAF law is very strict’ for any such incident. He also mentioned that the two-finger test conducted on a woman officer is misreported.
