Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Cuts Exam Fees, Boosts Youth Opportunities

Patna, Aug 15 (PTI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has introduced a significant change to the fee structure for state-level competitive exams. On Friday, he announced that a uniform fee of Rs 100 will be applied for all preliminary tests, while no charges will be levied for the mains exams. This decision comes as a boon for the many youth who are aspiring for government employment in the state. With the assembly elections just around the corner, this move could have political implications as well.

In a message posted on X in Hindi, Kumar expressed his delight: "I am pleased to announce that we have standardized the fees for preliminary tests (PT) of competitive examinations conducted by all commissions for state-level government jobs and have provided significant concessions for candidates." He elaborated further: "Instructions have been issued to charge only Rs 100 as the fee for the preliminary tests. Moreover, those who advance to the mains exam will be exempted from any examination fees."

These recruitment exams are organized by various commissions, including the Bihar Public Service Commission, Bihar Staff Selection Commission, and Bihar Technical Service Commission, among others. Reinforcing the importance of government jobs, Kumar said, "Providing government jobs to the youth of the state has always been a priority.” He continued, "Our government has consistently taken steps to create opportunities and secure the future of our young citizens. This decision further underscores our commitment to their interests."
