Supreme Court Allows NEET-PG 2025 on August 3 in Single Shift

The Supreme Court has approved NEET-PG 2025 to be held on August 3 in a single shift. The exam, originally set for June 15, needed adjustment due to previous dual shift plans rejected by the court for transparency.

Supreme Court Allows NEET-PG 2025 on August 3 in Single Shift

New Delhi, Jun 6 (PTI) - The Supreme Court has given the green light for the National Board of Examination (NBE) to hold the NEET-PG 2025 examination on August 3 in a single shift, adhering to the top court's directives.

The bench, comprising Justices Prashant Kumar Mishra and Augustine George Masih, initially raised questions regarding the two-month period requested by NBE to prepare for the exam. However, it concluded that there was a valid reason for scheduling NEET-PG 2025 on August 3.

The Supreme Court emphasized that no additional time extensions will be permitted for conducting the examination.

NBE explained that, based on the May 30 court order, the exam needs to be conducted in a single shift. To accommodate this, approximately 1,000 examination centers are required.

The board's plea further stated that the examination, initially slated for June 15, will now take place between 9 am and 12.30 pm on August 3. This date is reportedly the earliest opportunity provided by their technology partner, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (TCS).

On May 30, the Supreme Court criticized the NBE's prior decision to hold the exam in two shifts, citing concerns of "arbitrariness." The court mandated that the postgraduate medical entrance exam, originally scheduled for June 15, should be conducted in a single shift. This directive aims to ensure fairness, transparency, and secure identification of examination centers.
