NALSA and MCPC Launch 90-Day Mediation Drive Across India

New Delhi, Jun 26 (PTI) — The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and the Supreme Court's Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC) are set to embark on a 90-day "For the Nation" mediation campaign commencing on July 1. This initiative aims to address and resolve pending legal cases. The campaign will run through September 30, 2025.

Designed to foster mediation as a user-friendly, cost-effective, and swift method of dispute resolution, this nationwide campaign seeks to gain public trust by demonstrating its potential to preserve relationships while saving time and money. NALSA's release emphasized the drive to resolve cases pending in various courts, from taluka courts to high courts, effectively bringing mediation to every part of the country.

Guided by Chief Justice of India B R Gavai and Justice Surya Kant, who serves as the Supreme Court judge and executive chairman of both NALSA and MCPC, this comprehensive 90-day initiative has been thoughtfully crafted.

The campaign targets a range of pending cases suitable for mediation, including matrimonial disputes, accident claims, cases of domestic violence, cheque bounce issues, commercial disagreements, service matters, compoundable criminal cases, consumer disputes, and eviction cases.

All existing mediators and those who have recently completed 40 hours of mediation training will be engaged in this substantial effort. Mediation sessions will occur on all days of the week, accommodating the schedules of the involved parties.

To maximize the campaign's effectiveness, mediation processes may be conducted offline, online, or through a hybrid approach, adapting to the needs of the participants.
