Nagaland killings: a week on, protests in Mon against Amit Shah and armed forces

A week after 14 civilians were killed in Nagaland's Mon in army firing, locals held a protest against Home Minister Amit Shah and the armed forces, and burnt their effigies.

Angry with the Home Minister's statement in Parliament on the incident, locals called it 'false and fabricated' and demanded an apology.

The minister had said that the vehicle the killed locals were travelling in did not stop when asked to and that is when the Assam Rifles personnel opened fire. He had added that it was later found to be a case of mistaken identity.

Six daily wage labourers were killed on the night of December 4 when forces opened fire on them during an anti-insurgency operations. Others were killed in the protests that followed the incident.
