Muzaffarnagar Rains: 80-Year-Old Dies in House Collapse

Muzaffarnagar, UP: Heavy rains have taken a toll in Muzaffarnagar district, as an 80-year-old woman tragically died when her house collapsed amidst the incessant downpour on Monday. Authorities have raised an alert as the Ganga River inches towards the danger mark at the Bijnor barrage.

Sadar Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Nikita Sharma, reported that multiple homes in different parts of the district have succumbed to the torrential rains. The victim has been identified as Bharto, a resident of Chapra village in Sadar tehsil.

Sharma assured that financial assistance will be extended to the family of the deceased. Furthermore, revenue officials have been deployed to evaluate the damages inflicted by the relentless rains on properties throughout the district.

Flood outposts remain on high alert, with water levels in the Ganga steadily increasing. Residents of approximately a dozen low-lying villages near the riverbanks are advised to maintain a safe distance as a precaution.

Jansath SDM Jayendra Singh notified villagers in areas such as Jivanpura, Rampur, Ulluwala, Hansawala, Ahmadwala, Lalpur, and Faridpur about the rising water levels of the Ganga and Solani rivers in Jansath tehsil, urging caution.
