MP home minister backs vandals demands, asks Prakash Jha to think

A day after filmmaker Prakash Jha was assaulted by Bajrang Dal activists and his shooting set was vandalised in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh home minister Narottam Mishra on Monday backed the demand of the right-wing group for the change of title of the series 'Ashram'.

Mishra while condemning the vandalism unleashed by Bajrang Dal activists at the sets of web series ‘Ashram’, also asked producer-director Prakash Jha should also think of the wrong he is doing.

Backing the demand of the vandals calling for a change in the name and content of the series, the minister said he supports it, advising the filmmaker to not do things that may invite trouble.

The home minister further said a permanent guideline will be issued and if there was an objectionable scene, the story would only be shot once permission was granted by the administration.

On Sunday, Bajrang Dal activists ransacked the set of the third season of the web-series and threw ink on Jha. The windscreens of two buses of the crew were also broken in stone-pelting, said police.
