Mission Karmayogi Team Advances Civil Service Training in Telangana

New Delhi, Jul 3 (PTI) — A delegation from the Centre's 'Mission Karmayogi' recently visited Telangana to enhance the capacity-building initiatives for the state's civil servants, as per an official statement released on Thursday.

The National Programme for Civil Services Capacity Building, also known as Mission Karmayogi, was inaugurated in September 2020, with the aim of bolstering the skillset of civil servants. It seeks to develop a forward-thinking civil service that is grounded in Indian principles while adopting a global outlook.

The team, which includes members from the Capacity Building Commission and Karmayogi Bharat, met with Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma in Hyderabad on Wednesday, according to the statement.

Karmayogi Bharat is established as a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to execute the integrated government online training programme called iGOT.

Headed by Alka Mittal, an administrative member of the Capacity Building Commission, along with Navneet Kaur (Director of the Capacity Building Commission) and Soumi Banerjee (General Manager of Karmayogi Bharat), the delegation briefed the governor on the current progress of Mission Karmayogi in the state and sought his guidance for future steps.

The governor expressed his support for the mission and urged the team to continue propelling this transformative initiative forward in Telangana.

Earlier, the Mission Karmayogi team had discussions with Telangana Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao and senior department leaders to devise plans for civil servant capacity building within the state.

The team outlined the mission’s vision to cultivate a future-ready, citizen-oriented civil service through digital learning and competency-based training, emphasizing its importance.

The iGOT Karmayogi platform, a significant topic during the discussions, enables flexible learning for officers across various departments.

Department heads highlighted their specific training needs and challenges, stressing the importance of developing customized learning pathways that align with each department’s governance objectives.

A notable conclusion from the meeting was the decision to register civil servants from diverse departments onto the iGOT platform, recognizing the critical role state training institutions can play in this effort.

"This initiative is poised to be a significant milestone in Telangana's capacity-building journey," the statement mentioned.

These discussions underscore a collective dedication to enhancing governance through continuous learning and development under Mission Karmayogi, the statement concluded.
