Imphal, Aug 14 (PTI) Security forces have successfully apprehended nine individuals, including seven militants from various outlawed groups, in the districts of Imphal East, Kakching, Kangpokpi, and Tengnoupal, as confirmed by the police on Thursday. In a coordinated operation, the Manipur Police and Assam Rifles captured a member of the outlawed Kangleipak Communist Party (PWG), who was actively involved in extortion activities, from the Nugaipokpi Maning Leikai area in Imphal East district on Wednesday. Additionally, three militants, with two being women from the same faction, were apprehended on similar charges in the Wabagai Lamkhai area of Kakching district on Tuesday. Moreover, an active cadre of KCP (MFL) was captured from Pangaltabi Makha in Imphal East district on Wednesday. Two more individuals involved in extortion were detained by the police from the Keithelmanbi Vengpi area in Kangpokpi district. Intensive intelligence-based combing operations, alongside cordon and search operations, are being diligently executed to trace individuals engaged in extortion and unlawful activities within the state. Security forces also arrested two active cadres of the proscribed People's Liberation Army near the area of India-Myanmar border pillar number 85 in Tengnoupal district. In a separate operation, security personnel recovered six single barrel rifles, five improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and three long-range mortars during a search mission conducted at Dampi Ridge in Churachandpur district on Tuesday.
