Mayawati Alleges Secret Political Alliances Against BSP

Mayawati claims rival parties, including Congress and BJP, form alliances and manipulate EVMs to block BSP's progress in Uttar Pradesh, urging party unity.

Mayawati Alleges Secret Political Alliances Against BSP

Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has accused rival political entities of forming a covert alliance to thwart her party's return to power in Uttar Pradesh. The allegation came during a rally held in Lucknow. Mayawati remarked that her party's landmark victory in 2007 — where it secured a full-majority government independently in Uttar Pradesh — triggered alarm among 'casteist and capitalist' forces, prompting them to unite against the BSP's advancement.

"Following the BSP's establishment of a full-majority government in Uttar Pradesh in 2007, our administration's efforts to enhance the people's welfare and happiness expanded our influence nationally," she stated. Mayawati contended that in response, all casteist, narrow-minded, and capitalist factions united secretly to ensure the BSP's exclusion from power in the state.

She asserted these parties were so intimidated by her win that they ensured the BSP could neither regain control in Uttar Pradesh nor broaden its footprint nationwide. "In every election, whether Assembly or Lok Sabha, the Congress, BJP, SP, and other adversary parties covertly allied and employed various strategies to obstruct the BSP. They would transfer votes wherever the BSP appeared to be leading," she elaborated.

Mayawati also broached the topic of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) manipulation, suggesting, "The remaining gap was addressed by tampering with the EVMs. There is considerable opposition to the EVM system, and due to the prevailing circumstances, it could be abolished soon. A reversion to the paper ballot system is a strong possibility."

She urged her supporters to fortify the party's foundation and remain vigilant and organized, preparing for all forthcoming elections, including those in Bihar and other states. Without singling out any group, Mayawati accused rival parties of establishing new political entities to fracture Dalit votes.

She noted how opponents exploited individuals within the BSP's societal milieu to form minor parties and organizations. Warning her supporters, she said, "Do not be deceived."

Mayawati concluded by asserting, "The Congress, BJP, SP, and other opposition parties will resort to every scheme and tactic to obstruct us, but with unity and diligence, we can overcome them," remarked the four-time Uttar Pradesh chief minister.
