Manipur CM N Biren Singh urges collective efforts on Statehood Day

On the occasion of Manipur’s Statehood Day, Chief Minister N Biren Singh called on citizens to pledge unity and work collectively to uphold the state’s pride and dignity.

“Manipur became a full-fledged state of the Indian Union on this day in 1972, a milestone in our history. Let us pledge to preserve the pride and dignity of our beautiful state,” Singh wrote on X.

The appeal comes amidst ongoing ethnic violence in Manipur, which has claimed over 250 lives and displaced thousands since May 2023.

Gratitude to PM Modi

The chief minister also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his warm wishes on Statehood Day.

“On behalf of the people of Manipur, I extend heartfelt thanks to PM @narendramodi Ji for his inspiring words. Your encouragement motivates us to strive for a brighter future for Manipur and India,” Singh said.

Manipur Statehood Day, observed on January 21, marks the northeastern state’s elevation to full statehood in 1972. Despite recent challenges, Singh emphasised the importance of unity and resilience in building a better future for the state.
